Day 1
Arrive in Marrakesh
Met at Menara and walked the last stretch to a riad — no car reaches most medina doors. Dinner on the roof terrace.

The medina
The Ben Youssef medersa, the Almoravid koubba, the Bahia palace's painted ceilings, and the souks with someone who knows the way out.

Gardens, and the square
The Majorelle and Secret gardens in the cool of the morning, a hammam in the afternoon, and Jemaa el-Fna as it turns over at dusk.

Over the Atlas
The Tizi n'Tichka at 2,260 m, the earthen ksar at Aït Benhaddou on foot, and Ouarzazate's film studios, to a kasbah in the Dadès gorge.

Gorges, and into the sand
The Todra gorge's 300 m walls, the Tafilalt palm oases, then camels over the last dunes to a camp on Erg Chebbi for the night.

Back across the range
Sunrise on the dunes, then the long day west through the Draa valley and the Tizi n'Tichka again to a last night in the riad.
