Day 1
Arrive, and up to Imlil
Straight from Menara into the High Atlas, an hour and a half to a gîte at 1,740 m, with kit checked and the route talked through.

Day 2
Acclimatising over Tizi Mzik
A 900 m day over the pass into the Azzaden valley and back, which does the acclimatising and shows you the villages properly.

Day 3
To the refuge
Five hours up past the Sidi Chamharouch shrine to the Toubkal refuges at 3,207 m, with mules carrying the loads.

Toubkal, 4,167 m
Away at five for the south cwm and the summit ridge by sunrise, the whole range and the Sahara haze beyond it, then all the way down to Imlil.

Day 5
East to the Todra gorge
A long transfer over the Tizi n'Tichka and along the Dadès to a gîte at the mouth of the gorge, under 300 m of orange limestone.

Day 6
Climbing at Todra
A day on the bolted single-pitch routes with a local guide — grades from 4 to 7a within a few minutes' walk of each other.

Day 7
Into the erg on foot
Driven to the edge of the sand, then a six-hour walk in with camels carrying water and camp, sleeping out beyond the last track.

Dunes, and back west
Sunrise from the highest crest, the walk out, and the long drive back to Marrakesh through the Draa valley.
