Day 1
Arrive in Chiang Mai
A private car out to the Mae Rim valley, twenty minutes from town, to a resort of teak pavilions in a working rice field.

Day 2
The old town, then the paddy
Temples in the cool of the morning, a lazy afternoon by the pool, and dinner served for two on a platform in the rice field after dark.

Day 3
Sanctuary, and a lantern
A half day with the elephants, then up to a hill temple at dusk to release a paper lantern, which is a genuine Lanna custom rather than a staged one.

Waterfalls and a spa
The Mae Sa falls in the morning, then a two-hour Lanna massage for both of you and nothing at all after it.

The flight down via Bangkok and a car to a pool villa on a headland above the Andaman, with the sea on two sides.

Out to Hong island's lagoon before the day boats, snorkelling off Poda, and Railay's limestone walls at the end of the afternoon.
